Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect – Databricks Platform

Axveer is seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect to help guide the architecture and implementation of a modern enterprise data platform supporting large-scale operational analytics and AI-driven automation initiatives. This role combines hands-on data engineering with architectural oversight, focusing on scalable data modeling, robust pipeline design, and enabling advanced analytics and AI capabilities. The candidate will work closely with international engineering teams to help mature a lakehouse-based platform built on Databricks, enabling trusted, high-quality data across multiple business processes. The role is remote-first with collaboration across European teams, with potential initial travel to Europe for project kickoff and architecture workshops.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and guide implementation of Databricks lakehouse data platforms
  • Design scalable data models across bronze, silver, and gold layers
  • Lead development of enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Ensure data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks are properly implemented
  • Guide integration of complex operational datasets into unified analytics models
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure data pipelines support analytics and AI use cases
  • Provide architectural guidance on scalable data platform design
  • Mentor and guide other data engineers on best practices
Required Skills
  • Deep expertise in Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake
  • Strong experience with Python and SQL for large-scale data engineering
  • Advanced data modeling expertise
  • Experience designing enterprise data platforms
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks
  • Strong understanding of modern lakehouse architectures
  • Experience building high-reliability production data pipelines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience enabling AI or advanced analytics workflows
  • Exposure to MLOps or data science pipelines
  • Experience with process analytics or operational data systems
  • Familiarity with event-driven or streaming architectures
  • Experience integrating multiple enterprise systems into unified data platforms
Working Model
  • Remote-first role
  • Collaboration with teams operating in the Central European Time (CET) zone
  • Candidates should be comfortable adjusting their schedule to support CET overlap
  • Occasional travel to Europe may be required for project onboarding or key workshops
